Course
The marathon and half marathon courses will be officially measured by World Athletics. This means that you can qualify at the Sofico Gent Marathon to take part in other international competitions that set certain limits, such as the Boston Marathon.

Sofico Gent Marathon
The time limit for Sofico Gent Marathon runners is 6 hours. By order of the police, the roads will be reopened for traffic based on a pace of 7:30 per km. Those running slower will be eliminated from the race but can continue the course at their own risk if they strictly follow the traffic rules.
Sofico Gent Half Marathon
By order of the police, the course will be reopened for traffic after the last runner, which means, in concrete terms, that participants run at a strict pace of 7:30 minutes per kilometre. Those running slower will be eliminated from the race but can continue the course at their own risk if they strictly follow the traffic rules.
Yes, toilets are provided at all supply stations.
The finish closes at 4pm.

Yes, it will be possible to track runners at interim points on the day of the event. The link will be shared in the week prior to the event via our social media channels, email, and our website.

Sofico Gent Marathon runners and supporters can park at Parking Gent-Sint-Pieters or The Loop. Both car parks are accessible from the R4 and will only cost €10 on the day of the marathon allowing people to park there for 8 hours. Enter these car parks in your GPS and be sure to pay attention to the dynamic road signs as you approach the car park. These signs will send you to the nearest car park. A free shuttle will be running from both car parks to the start and finish between 7am and 4:45pm, allowing you to get to and from the Topsporthal without any worries.
Coming by train/tram/bus? A free shuttle bus will be leaving every 15 minutes from bus stop 23 at the back of the Gent Sint-Pieters station (Voskenslaan) that will take you to the Topsporthal. Runners will get priority boarding between 7 and 10am. At peak moments there are more buses.

PLEASE NOTE: Participant packs will not be sent in the post, but you will be able to collect them on site from the registration desk on Saturday and Sunday.
At the latest 1 week before the event, all individually registered participants will receive a confirmation email containing their personalised number (registered by 4 March) or e-ticket. This number or e-ticket can be used to collect the bib number from the pre-registration desk on Friday 22 March (12:30 – 18:30), Saturday 23 March (10:00-17:00) and Sunday 24 March (8:00-10:00).

Not received anything? Be sure to check your SPAM folder. If you cannot find your confirmation email with personal number or e-ticket there either, contact us via the chat or email on info@golazo.com. You can also look up your starting number on our website based on your name.
Look-up your bibnumber
You can also take your ID to the helpdesk on site. We will be able to find your registration with your name and we will then give you your bib number.
Yes. The person collecting will have to bring your confirmation email with your personal number or e-ticket to the pre-registration desk.
In accordance with our general terms and conditions, unfortunately, we cannot pay any refunds, regardless of the reasons for not participating. Nor can we transfer your registration to another event or different edition. However, it is possible to pass on or sell your registration to someone else. Please refer to name change or distance change.
If you would like to change the distance or name, you will only be able to do so on site at the registration desk. Do not forget to bring your ID.
Important: switching from the (half) marathon to the 10 km distance is not possible as this distance is full.
Yes, for safety reasons and correct publication of the results, we do ask to make any name or distance changes at the helpdesk.
- First, collect your bib number from the registration desk.
- Change the information at the desk ‘change of name/distance’ and receive a new bib number.
- Changing to a lower distance is free of charge. For a higher distance, the difference in price will be charged.
Important:switching from the (half) marathon to the 10 km distance is not possible as this distance is full.
- Collect the bib number using the confirmation email of the person from whom you are taking the starting number.
- Change the information at the desk ‘change of name/distance’ and receive a new bib number.
- Do not forget to bring your ID. For a name change there is a € 5 administration cost.
Miscellaneous
There are showers and changing rooms for men & women at the Topsporthal.
You can hand in your sports bags to the ‘bag drop off’ from 7am. All participants will get a bib number but also a sticker showing their start number. You need to place that sticker on your sports bag and then hand it into the ‘bag drop off’. After the run, you will only be able to collect your sports bag again after presenting your bib number. Loose items of clothing or plastic bags are not accepted. So, make sure to bring a (sports) bag that you can close completely to put your belongings in. Sports bags can be collected until 5PM.
Yes, that is allowed.
Cups are used at all deliveries.
No, that won’t be possible.
This is not allowed for the comfort of all runners.
Any items that are handed in, will be collected at the helpdesk. If you notice that you have lost something, please contact us.
You can cheer on friends, colleagues, and family during the Sofico Gent Marathon, along the course and at the start/finish by the Topsporthal. On the day of the event, you can track at interim points.
It is forbidden to mount or disseminate promotional items at the event location or along the course of the Sofico Gent Marathon.
Flyering is not permitted either.
