How to get to Sofico Ghent Marathon?

The start and finish of the Sofico Gent Marathon are situated at the Topsporthal in Ghent. . The easiest way to reach the event location is by bike. The parking lots along the Watersportbaan and at the Blaarmeersen are NOT accessible on Sunday 27th of March. Participants and supporters should follow the directions to get to their destination.

Car parks & free shuttle bus

You CAN’T park in the vicinity of the Topsporthal. The traditional car parks of the Blaarmeersen and Zuiderlaan are notaccessible on 27 March. Be sure to follow the directions along the way.

Runners and supporters of the Sofico Gent Marathon can park in one of the following car parks:

Parking Gent-Sint Pieters (station),

Address: Sint-Denijslaan, Ghent

The parking is accessible from the highway via the R4. Parking is available at the advantageous rate of 7.50 Euro for a maximum of 8 hours.

This car park is ideal for participants & supporters. From here, the supporters have numerous possibilities to encourage the runners along the track in the city or at the Topsporthal.

The Loop – Parking B

Address: Louis Blériotlaan, 9051 Ghent

Also here you pay 7,50 Euro to park your car.

Free shuttle bus

There is a free shuttle bus from Parking Gent – Sint Pieters as well as from Parking The Loop – Parking C. Our free shuttle bus brings you as runner or supporter to the Sofico Gent Marathon and afterwards back to your car.

Shuttle bus hours: from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Duration of the route parking – Topsporthal: 10 min.

In case of heavy crowds at the shuttle stops, participants of Sofico Gent Marathon will be given priority over supporters, so that participants will definitely be on time to start their race. Supporters can then take the next bus or choose another means of transport.

Kiss & Ride

You can drop off or pick up someone near the Topsporthal. This Kiss & Ride Zone is only accessible via the R4 or via the Drongensesteenweg and the Noorderlaan. Follow the arrows to the Kiss & Ride.

On foot or by bike

The Topsporthal is easily accessible on foot or by bike. There is a spacious bicycle shed foreseen.

By public transport

Coming by tram, bus or train? Then Gent-Sint-Pieters is the place to be!

At bus platform 23 at the back of the station (Voskenslaan) a free shuttle bus departs every 15 minutes (between 7 a.m and 5 p.m.) to the Topsporthal. At peak moments there are more buses.

By the way, did you know that in the weekend you have a 50% discount on a train ticket? Do not hesitate!

The bus stops in the vicinity of the Topsporthal and the Blaarmeersen are not operated on Sunday 27 March. . The nearest stop is the stop Yachtdreef (lines 9, 19 and 38). The closest tram stops are the Koning Albertbrug and Bernard Spaelaan stops, both at 2 km (lines 2 and 4).

Be sure to arrive on time!

Make sure you get to the event on time taking into account the duration of the shuttle route to ensure a smooth start of your race day.

You can also pick up your number on Saturday between 12h and 17h at the Topsporthal. That way, you will be at the start of Sofico Gent Marathon even sooner.
