Event day

Come to the start and finish of the Sofico Gent Marathon at the Topsporthal in Ghent on foot, by (share) bike or public transport. The car parks along Watersportbaan and at Blaarmeersen are NOT accessible on Sunday 29 March. Whether you are a participant or supporter, please follow the directions below to easily get to your destination.

On foot or by bike

It is easy to get to the Topsporthal on foot or by bike. Donkey Republic share bikes are offering participants and visitors of the Sofico Gent Marathon a one off 20% discount with code GENTMARATHON26. There will be plenty of bicycle parking provided by the finish in Parking Oost and on Noorderlaan.

By public transport

If you are coming by tram, bus or train, Gent-Sint-Pieters is the place to be! Please be aware that many bus and tram routes will be affected by the course. Consult the NMBS and De Lijn routeplanners to plan your trip to Gent-Sint-Pieters.

A free shuttle bus to the Topsporthal will leave every 5 minutes from bus platform 23 at the back of the station (Voskenslaan). At peak times, runners will get priority, and there will also be more buses.

The bus & tram stops in the vicinity of the Topsporthal and Blaarmeersen will not be in service on Sunday 29 March. Use De Lijn routeplanner to find an alternatieve option.

Private coach

Complete all info and we will send you the instructions for dropping off and picking up passengers. If you are staying on site, be sure to indicate this so we can send you the right instructions.

Parking

The Blaarmeersen car parks and parking spaces along Zuiderlaan and Noorderlaan are not accessible on 29 March.

Sofico Gent Marathon runners and supporters can park in the Parking The Loop (half marathon), Ikea (marathon) or Gent-Sint-Pieters. All car parks can be reached from the R4 and cost only €17 for 8 hours owing to the marathon.

For the first time, parking tickets can be bought in advance this year. If you would like to avoid the queues for paying on site and also secure your parking splace, buy your parking ticket now using this link:

Navigate to the car parks and be sure to pay attention to the dynamic signs when approaching the car park, they will guide you to the car park that is easiest to access

There will be two free shuttle buses going to the start and finish between 7 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. The shuttle services are: shuttle Gent-Sint-Pieters and shuttle Ikea-The Loop, allowing you to travel from and to the Topsporthal without a care in the world.

The last shuttle departs from the event site at 18:30 towards the parking.

Kiss & ride

Due to the new location of the start, the Watersportbaan will not be accessible for motorised transport. If you need to drop off or pick up people, you can use Gent-Sint-Pieters station’s Kiss & Ride. There you can take the shuttle bus to the Topsporthal.

Leaving the event after the race

You can use the free shuttle buses going to Gent-Sint-Pieters and The Loop / IKEA.

The pick-up point for the shuttle to Gent-Sint-Pieters is on Trimlaan at Blaarmeersen.

The pick-up point for The Loop / IKEA is on Campinglaan.
